Nashville, TN — Oct. 2, 2024 — Forlorn didn't start as an album. It started as a freestyle a few weeks apart, posted with no plan attached, until there were twelve of them and a name for the pile. Announced in early September and out since September 20, Alpha The Wolf's debut is a record that was built in public before anyone knew it was being built at all.
Three of the twelve tracks had already lived their own lives as standalone singles. "Dior" came first, at the end of June, paired with a reel captioned "It was all just a game... until it wasn't though." (view the reel)
A week later came "Dancer," its slower, candlelit visual a clear tonal break from Dior's.
Then "Pain" the week after that — its own reel captioned simply "Someone, to help me with this pain" (view the reel), with behind-the-scenes photos from the video shoot posted separately (view the photos).
By late summer the singles had stopped being singles. A reel went up carrying nothing but two emoji — a heart on fire, an arrow, a broken heart (view the reel) — the whole arc of the record in three characters before a title existed. The rollout kept running alongside actual shows — a set in Lithonia, Georgia on September 14 for "The Solo Dolo Experience," then a Nashville date at E Lounge on September 20 for "Who Got Da Juice" — the very night Forlorn landed. The album arrived with the three freestyles folded back in as Track 2, Track 4, and Track 11 of twelve.
What "Forlorn" means
Twelve tracks, all trap-soul melody run through an R&B frame, each one peeling back another layer of the same idea — the raw pain of betrayal, the quieter acceptance of solitude that comes after. Alpha The Wolf wrote, produced, and mixed the whole project himself, the way he's worked ever since. Forlorn is out now on all platforms.
